Country Info & Dialing Code Lookup
What is this country’s dialing code?
Result
How it is calculated
This is a lookup, not a calculation. You pick a country from the list and the tool reads that country's row in a built-in reference table, returning three fields: the international dialing code (country calling code, written with a leading +), the capital city, and the currency as a three-letter ISO code such as EUR or JPY. If a field is missing for that entry, a dash is shown. Only entries that have a calling code are offered in the list, so uninhabited territories are skipped. The data is static reference information: it will not reflect recent changes, and some countries have more than one capital or share a currency with others.
Worked example
Select Japan. The table row for Japan holds the code +81, the capital Tokyo and the currency code JPY. The dialing code shown is +81. To call a Tokyo landline from abroad you would dial your exit prefix, then 81, then the local number without its leading 0 (for example 3 for Tokyo area numbers).
Common mistakes
- Typing the + sign as the local exit prefix; the + stands for whatever international prefix your own country uses (often 00 or 011).
- Keeping the national trunk digit 0 after the country code, which usually must be dropped (+81 3..., not +81 03...).
- Assuming countries sharing a code are the same place; for example several countries share +1.
- Treating the currency code as a symbol or exchange rate; it only names the currency.
- Using the capital shown as the seat of every government body when a country has more than one capital.
About this calculator
This lookup tool provides a country's international dialing code together with its capital city and official currency, pulled from a reference dataset covering the world's countries. Selecting a country instantly returns these three pieces of information without needing to search separately for each one.
It is used most often by people making an international phone call for the first time and unsure which prefix to dial before the local number, as well as by travelers, students and businesspeople who need a quick reference for a country's capital or currency, whether for planning a trip, filling out a form, or general knowledge. Customer support teams and call centers handling international contacts also rely on quick dialing-code lookups like this to format outgoing numbers correctly.

The dialing code shown is only the country prefix. The code you press to leave your own country, such as 00 or 011 depending on where you are, is a separate thing and is not listed here. Local numbers also often start with a domestic trunk digit that is usually dropped when you call from abroad, so check the number's format before dialing. Which extra detail would you like added: language, time zone, something else?
