Jigger to Milliliter Converter

Enter a value and pick a direction to convert between jiggers and milliliters.

How it is calculated

The tool uses one fixed definition: 1 jigger = 1.5 US fluid ounces = 44.3603 mL. Jiggers to millilitres is mL = jiggers × 44.3603, and the reverse is jiggers = mL ÷ 44.3603, so 1 mL is about 0.022543 jigger.

Choose the direction with the selector: the default converts jiggers to mL, and the second option converts mL to jiggers. Any direction value other than mL to jiggers is treated as jiggers to mL. Results are shown to four decimals, and the result also lists the rate in both directions. The value may be a decimal or zero but not negative; a negative value gives no result. Some bars use a jigger of 1 oz, 2 oz or a metric size; the tool does not know which one yours is and always applies 1.5 US fl oz, so check the size printed on your jigger.

Worked example

A cocktail recipe calls for 1.5 jiggers of gin, and you only have a metric measuring cup.

Direction: jiggers to mL. 1.5 × 44.3603 = 66.5405 mL. For the reverse case, 60 mL ÷ 44.3603 ≈ 1.3526 jiggers, a little more than one and a third jiggers.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming every jigger is 1.5 oz. A double-ended bar jigger often has two cups of different sizes; this tool uses the 44.3603 mL standard only.
  • Leaving the direction on jiggers to mL when you meant to enter millilitres. 60 would then show 2,661.6180 mL instead of 1.3526 jiggers.
  • Mixing US and UK fluid ounces. The factor is based on the US fluid ounce, which is about 29.57 mL, not the UK ounce.
  • Rounding 44.36 mL to 45 mL or 50 mL by habit. The extra millilitres add up across a recipe and upset the balance of the drink.
  • Using the result as a weight guide. A jigger is a measure of volume, and a spirit's density plays no part.

About this calculator

A jigger is the standard bartending measure for spirits, historically 1.5 US fluid ounces — equal to 44.3603 millilitres — though some bar traditions use a 1 oz or 2 oz jigger instead. This converter moves between jiggers and millilitres in both directions, letting a recipe written in one unit be measured accurately with tools calibrated in the other.

It's a practical reference for bartenders, home mixologists, and recipe developers adapting cocktail recipes between US bar measures and the metric jiggers and shot glasses common outside the United States. Getting the ratio right matters in cocktail-making, where the balance between spirit, mixer, and modifier is often defined in precise fractions of a jigger.

For batching cocktails, work in millilitres: 8 jiggers come to 354.88 mL here, and a 500 mL bottle holds about 11.27 jiggers, so a bottle never divides into whole pours. Before scaling a recipe, check the size marked on your own jigger, since this tool always assumes 1.5 US fluid ounces. What size jigger does your bar or recipe book use?
