Turkish Income Tax Calculator

Calculate Turkish income tax with the 2026 progressive brackets.

Calculated using 2026 Turkish income tax brackets.

How it is calculated

The tool applies Turkey's 2026 wage-earner income tax tariff (Income Tax General Communiqué No. 332) to the annual taxable amount you enter. The tax is progressive and marginal: each slice of income is taxed only at the rate of its own bracket. The slices are 0 to 190,000 at 15%, 190,000 to 400,000 at 20%, 400,000 to 1,500,000 at 27%, 1,500,000 to 5,300,000 at 35%, and anything above at 40%. For each bracket the engine takes the part of income that falls inside it, multiplies by its rate, and adds the results. Net is income minus total tax, and the effective rate is total tax divided by income. Amounts are in Turkish lira. It uses the wage tariff, so non-wage income is taxed on different thresholds, and no social security, stamp tax, allowances or minimum-wage exemption are deducted. Tariffs change every year.

Worked example

An annual taxable income of 600,000 falls into the first three brackets. The first 190,000 is taxed at 15%: 28,500. The next 210,000 (up to 400,000) is taxed at 20%: 42,000. The remaining 200,000 (up to 600,000) is taxed at 27%: 54,000. Adding these gives a total tax of 124,500.00 ₺, leaving 475,500.00 ₺ after income tax. The effective rate is 124,500 / 600,000 = 20.75%, well below the top bracket rate of 27% that applies to the last slice.

Common mistakes

  • Applying the top bracket rate (27% here) to the whole income. Only the part of income above 400,000 is taxed at that rate.
  • Entering a monthly salary when the brackets are annual, which keeps the result in the lowest bracket and understates the tax. Use the cumulative annual amount.
  • Entering the gross salary and expecting the result to be the final take-home pay. Social security and unemployment contributions are not deducted by this tool, and the tax base is usually already net of them.
  • Using the 2026 tariff for another year's income; past years have their own pages. Brackets and thresholds are updated every year.

About this calculator

This calculator applies Turkey's 2026 progressive income tax brackets for wage income (Income Tax Law article 103) to the annual taxable income you enter, working out how much falls into each bracket, the total income tax and the amount left after it. It applies the income tax tariff only: it does not deduct the SGK and unemployment insurance contributions, stamp tax or the minimum-wage exemption that a Turkish payslip applies, so the result is not a full gross-to-net payroll calculation.

Employees use it to see how much income tax a given annual tax base carries, HR and payroll staff use it to check the income tax line of their calculations, and freelancers or business owners use it to estimate their annual tax liability. Because Turkey's system is progressive, only the income within each bracket is taxed at that bracket's rate, not the whole amount.

This tool covers Turkey only, using the 2026 wage tariff. To check your own figure at the bracket edges, a base of exactly 400,000 should give 70,500 in tax and a base of 1,500,000 should give 367,500, because every slice below is taxed at its own rate. For anything unusual, an accountant can confirm. Which kind of income are you calculating, wages or something else?
