Paper Size Calculator
Pick an A-series paper format to see its size in millimeters, inches, and 150 DPI pixels.

How it is calculated
The tool holds a fixed table of the ISO A-series sheet sizes in millimetres (width × height, portrait), from A0 at 841 × 1189 down to A6 at 105 × 148. Nothing is measured or estimated; it looks up the row you pick. The other two lines are conversions of those numbers: inches = mm / 25.4, rounded to two decimals, and pixels = round(mm / 25.4 × 150), which assumes a resolution of 150 pixels per inch.
Pixels are calculated from the exact millimetre value, not from the rounded inch figure. Only A0 to A6 are in the table: B, C or North American sizes such as Letter give no result, and the format name must be typed in capitals (A4, not a4). If no format is sent, A4 is used.
Worked example
Pick A4. The table gives 210 × 297 mm, shown as 210 × 297 mm. Inches: 210 / 25.4 = 8.27 and 297 / 25.4 = 11.69, so 8.27″ × 11.69″. Pixels at 150 per inch: 210 / 25.4 × 150 = 1,240.2, which rounds to 1,240, and 297 / 25.4 × 150 = 1,753.9, which rounds to 1,754. The canvas for an A4 page at this resolution is therefore 1,240 × 1,754 px.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the pixel figure applies to every use. It is fixed at 150 pixels per inch; a 300 PPI print file needs exactly double each value, and a 72 PPI screen mockup far fewer.
- Swapping width and height. The sizes are given in portrait order (short side first); a landscape page simply reverses the two numbers.
- Looking for Letter, Legal or B-series sizes here. Only A0 to A6 are covered, so a US Letter sheet (8.5 × 11 in) will not be found and is not the same as A4.
- Expecting each size to halve both sides. Going from A4 to A5 halves the area only: the short side of A4 (210 mm) becomes the long side of A5, and the new short side is 148 mm.
- Forgetting bleed. The result is the trimmed page size; print shops usually ask for extra margin beyond it.
About this calculator
This calculator looks up the exact dimensions of ISO 216 A-series paper sizes (A0 through A6), showing each format's width and height in millimeters, inches, and pixels at 150 DPI. Each size is exactly half the area of the one before it, folded along the long edge.
Designers, printers, and anyone setting up a document use it to get precise dimensions without hunting through a spec sheet — handy for setting canvas size in design software, checking print bleed, or figuring out pixel dimensions for a given DPI.

Every A size shares the same proportions, so a layout moves between sizes without distortion. Enlarging A4 artwork to A3 is a scale of about 141 percent, and reducing A4 to A5 is about 71 percent, which is what the zoom presets on many copiers are based on. In the tool, the longer side of one size is the shorter side of the next. Which size do you print on, and do you ever need to scale between two?
