Baby Bottle Feeding Schedule Calculator
Enter your baby's weight and age to estimate a daily bottle-feeding schedule.

How it is calculated
The tool applies a general rule of thumb, not a medical prescription. Daily intake is 150 mL × weight in kg, capped at 1000 mL, so the cap takes effect from about 6.7 kg. The number of feeds comes from age in months: under 1 month, 8 feeds; from 1 up to (but not including) 4 months, 6 feeds; from 4 up to 7 months, 5 feeds; 7 months and older, 4 feeds. Then per feed = daily total ÷ feeds, rounded to the nearest whole mL (a 5 kg newborn: 750 ÷ 8 = 93.75, shown as 94 mL). Weight must be above 0 and at most 30 kg, and age from 0 to 60 months; outside that range no result is shown. The figures are an average for formula feeding; breast milk, solids and hunger cues change real intake, so follow your paediatrician.
Worked example
A baby weighs 5.2 kg and is 2 months old. Daily volume is 150 × 5.2 = 780 mL, which is under the 1000 mL cap. At 2 months the schedule uses 6 feeds, shown as 6 feeds/day. Each feed is 780 ÷ 6 = 130 mL. The tool shows 6 feeds/day, 130 mL per feed and 780 mL a day. If the same baby reached 4 months, the schedule would switch to 5 feeds, and 780 ÷ 5 would be 156 mL per feed. A 7 kg baby at 5 months hits the cap: 1,000 mL a day, 200 mL per feed.
Common mistakes
- Entering weight in pounds. The field is in kilograms, so 11 lb must be entered as about 5 kg; entering 11 roughly doubles the volume until the cap is reached.
- Using the baby's birth weight for an older baby. The volume depends on the current weight, which is why it changes as the baby grows.
- Treating the figure as a target to finish each bottle. It is an average, and babies often take a little more or less from feed to feed.
- Adding breast milk or solid food to the total. The result assumes formula only; if the baby also has breast milk or solids, the bottle volumes are lower.
- Entering age in weeks or days. The age field is in months, so a 6-week-old is about 1.4 months; and a child over 60 months or 30 kg gets no result.

About this calculator
A common pediatric rule of thumb sizes a baby's daily formula intake at roughly 150 mL per kilogram of body weight, capped around 1000 mL/day once babies get bigger and start solids. This calculator applies that rule to the baby's weight, then splits the daily total across an age-appropriate number of feeds per day (newborns feed more often, older infants fewer times with larger volumes) to show both feeds-per-day and the estimated milliliters per feed.
New parents and caregivers use a schedule like this as a starting reference point when establishing a bottle-feeding routine, while it's worth remembering every baby's actual appetite varies and a pediatrician's guidance always takes priority over a generic formula — this tool gives a reasonable ballpark, not a medical prescription.
