Amazon FBA Fee Calculator

Add up every Amazon fee and cost per unit to see the profit, margin, ROI and break-even price of your listing.

How it is calculated

Everything is per unit sold, in one currency. The referral fee is price × referral % ÷ 100. "Total fees" is what Amazon takes: referral fee + fulfilment fee + storage fee. Your own costs are COGS + inbound shipping + ad spend per unit. Net profit = price − total fees − own costs. Margin = net profit ÷ price × 100. ROI = net profit ÷ (COGS + inbound shipping) × 100, which ignores ad spend in the base, and is shown as 0 if both are zero. Break-even price = (fulfilment + storage + COGS + inbound + ad) ÷ (1 − referral %), the price at which profit is zero. Every field must be filled in; use 0 for a cost you do not have. The referral percentage depends on category and the fulfilment fee on size and weight, so take them from your own Amazon fee schedule.

Worked example

A product sells for 29.99. Referral fee at 15% = $4.50 (4.4985 before rounding). Fulfilment fee 4.5 and storage 0.3 bring total Amazon fees to $9.30. Own costs are COGS 8 + inbound 1.2 + ads 3 = 12.20. Net profit = 29.99 − 9.30 − 12.20 = $8.49. Margin = 8.49 ÷ 29.99 = 28.31%. ROI = 8.49 ÷ (8 + 1.2) = 92.30%. Break-even price = (4.5 + 0.3 + 12.2) ÷ 0.85 = $20.00, so the price could fall about $10 before the listing loses money.

Common mistakes

  • Typing the referral fee as a fraction (0.15) instead of a percent (15): the tool treats it as 0.15%, and net profit looks far too high.
  • Leaving the ad-spend field blank: every field is required, so no result appears until you enter 0.
  • Putting the monthly storage cost for the whole shipment in the storage field instead of the cost per unit; this overstates fees.
  • Reading the "total fees" line as everything you pay: it holds only the referral, fulfilment and storage fees, not COGS, inbound shipping or ads.
  • Expecting returns, refunds, taxes or other Amazon charges to be included; none of them are, so treat the profit as an upper estimate.

About this calculator

Selling through Amazon's Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program layers several separate fees onto every unit sold: a referral fee (typically 8-15% of the sale price, category-dependent), a fulfillment fee based on product size and weight tier, monthly storage fees that spike sharply in Q4 and for long-term stored inventory, plus the seller's own costs — cost of goods sold (COGS), inbound shipping to Amazon's warehouses, and per-unit PPC ad spend for sponsored listings.

FBA sellers need the full picture, not just the referral fee, because it's easy to price a product that looks profitable on paper but actually loses money once fulfillment, storage and ad spend are stacked on top — a common trap for new sellers is pricing based on COGS plus referral fee alone and being surprised when the real margin turns out thin or negative.

List the sale price and every per-unit cost, from referral and fulfillment fees to storage, product cost, inbound shipping and PPC, and it gives profit, margin, ROI and the break-even price for the listing.
