Wedding Bouquet Flower Calculator

Enter your bouquet and corsage counts to total the flower stems you need.

How it is calculated

The tool handles two kinds of pieces with one stem count each. Bouquet stems: bouquets × stems per bouquet. Corsage stems: corsages × stems per corsage. Total: the sum of the two, shown in whole stems. Boutonnieres and wrist or hair pieces can be counted in the corsage line. You provide the stems per piece yourself: the tool has no built-in recipe for flower type or size. There is no allowance for spares, damaged stems or greenery, and no price. Decimal stem counts are accepted and the displayed results are rounded to whole stems. Negative values give no result.

Worked example

A wedding needs 5 bouquets of 20 stems each and 8 corsages of 3 stems each. Bouquets: 5 × 20 = 100 stems. Corsages: 8 × 3 = 24 stems. Total: 100 + 24 = 124 stems. Because every stem count here is an estimate, a florist would normally order a little extra, for example 10% more, which would be about 136 stems, but the tool shows only the exact total and leaves that margin to you.

Common mistakes

  • Using one stem count for different bouquets: a bridal bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets usually differ, so enter them as separate runs or use an average and check the total.
  • Counting a filler or greenery bunch as one stem: bunches hold many stems, so convert them to stems or leave them out of the count.
  • Putting boutonnieres in the bouquet line: they take far fewer stems, so they belong in the corsage line with their own stem count.
  • Ordering exactly the total: stems get damaged or opened badly, and the tool adds no spare allowance.
  • Forgetting table pieces and ceremony flowers: the tool counts only bouquets and corsages, so centrepieces and arch flowers must be added separately.

About this calculator

Wedding florists plan around typical stem counts per arrangement: a bridal bouquet generally needs 15-30 stems depending on fullness and flower size, bridesmaid bouquets take fewer, and a boutonniere or corsage needs only 1-3 focal stems. Multiplying each figure by how many of that piece the wedding party needs gives the total order.

Getting this right matters because it avoids over-ordering — wasted money on flowers, especially out-of-season or imported varieties that come at a premium — or under-ordering, which means a last-minute scramble on the wedding morning. This calculator is used by wedding florists building client quotes and by DIY brides planning their own flowers.

Florists often sell stems in bunches, so turn the total into an order by dividing by the bunch size and rounding up. For five bouquets of 20 stems and eight corsages of 3 stems, the tool gives 124 stems. Large focal blooms need far fewer stems per piece than small spray flowers, so set the stem count per piece for the flower you actually chose. Which flowers are you planning, and how many stems does your florist suggest per piece?
