Business Days Calculator
How many business days are there?
Result
How it is calculated
The tool counts every calendar day from the start date to the end date, including both ends, and then counts how many are not Saturday or Sunday. Total days = (End − Start) + 1, Weekends = Total − Business days. If the end date is before the start, the two are swapped automatically. Only weekends are excluded; public holidays, company closures and regional work weeks (such as Friday-Saturday weekends) are not known to the tool, so subtract holidays yourself.
Worked example
From Monday 2 March 2026 to Friday 27 March 2026. Counted inclusively, that is 26 calendar days. The first 3 full weeks (2 to 22 March) hold 21 days: 15 weekdays and 6 weekend days. The last 5 days (23 to 27 March) are all weekdays. So 15 + 5 = 20 weekdays. Result: 20 business days, 26 in total, 6 weekend days.
Common mistakes
- Expecting the start day to be excluded; it is counted if it is a weekday, so the tool is inclusive on both ends.
- Forgetting public holidays, which are not removed; subtract them from the result by hand.
- Using it for a country with a Friday-Saturday weekend; the tool always treats Saturday and Sunday as the weekend.
- Using the result as a delivery deadline without checking whether the first day counts as day zero in your contract.
- Typing the date in the wrong order (day and month swapped) so the range is much longer than intended.
About this calculator
This calculator counts the number of weekdays — Monday through Friday — between two dates, automatically excluding Saturdays and Sundays from the total. It answers a different question than a plain date-difference calculator, since it's counting working days, not calendar days.
It's used for anything governed by a 'business days' deadline: shipping and delivery estimates, bank transfer and check clearing times, legal notice periods, contract review windows, and HR processes like notice periods or onboarding paperwork that reference working days rather than calendar days. Project managers and freelancers also use it to estimate realistic turnaround times for deliverables that only get worked on during the week.

The count treats only Saturday and Sunday as days off, and both the start and end dates are included. Public holidays, bridge days and company shutdowns are not removed, so for a delivery promise or a notice period subtract those yourself or compare with your contract wording. If you enter the dates in reverse order, they are swapped for you. Which holidays or weekend pattern would matter most for your work? Name the country you count for.
