mmHg to kPa Converter
Choose a direction and enter a value to convert between mmHg and kPa.
Result
How it is calculated
The tool uses the fixed factor 1 mmHg = 0.133322387415 kPa. From mmHg to kPa: kPa = mmHg × 0.133322387415. From kPa to mmHg: mmHg = kPa ÷ 0.133322387415. It also shows the same pressure in standard atmospheres, using 1 atm = 760 mmHg = 101.325 kPa. The direction setting decides which unit your number is in; if it is not recognised, the tool assumes mmHg to kPa. kPa results show four decimals and mmHg results show two. The value can be any number, including zero or a negative gauge reading. The factor treats mmHg and torr as the same thing.
Worked example
A systolic blood pressure of 120 mmHg, direction mmHg to kPa. kPa = 120 × 0.133322 = 15.9987 kPa. Atmospheres: 120 ÷ 760 = 0.1579 atm. So 120 mmHg is about 16.0 kPa, roughly 16% of normal atmospheric pressure.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the direction on mmHg to kPa while typing a kPa value. A 16 entered as mmHg gives 2.13 kPa; for 16 kPa choose kPa to mmHg (about 120 mmHg).
- Mixing up kPa with hPa or mbar. 1 kPa equals 10 hPa, and weather pressure of 1013 hPa is 101.3 kPa.
- Rounding the factor to 0.13 or 0.133 on a hand calculation and getting visible drift at large values.
- Reading the atm line as a second answer. It is the same pressure in another unit, not an additional pressure.
About this calculator
Millimeters of mercury (mmHg), also called torr, and kilopascals (kPa) are both units of pressure, related by the fixed factor 1 mmHg = 0.133322 kPa (equivalently, 1 kPa ≈ 7.50062 mmHg). This calculator converts between the two and also shows the equivalent in standard atmospheres, since 1 atm = 101.325 kPa = 760 mmHg exactly.
The conversion is used across several fields: in medicine, blood pressure is traditionally recorded in mmHg but many countries and lab systems report other pressures in kPa; in meteorology and engineering, mmHg (or torr) is common for vacuum and low-pressure measurements while kPa is the SI-standard unit used in most scientific and technical documentation.

A blood pressure reading has two numbers, and each needs its own conversion. Run the top value, then the bottom: 120 over 80 mmHg becomes about 16.0 over 10.7 kPa. Keep the reading in the unit your device or lab report uses when you talk to a clinician, since target ranges are quoted in that unit. Do you convert more often for medical results, vacuum gauges or something else?
