Mixing Ratio to Percent Calculator
Enter the parts of each component to get its percentage of the mix.

How it is calculated
The tool accepts up to three ratio parts: A, B and an optional C. It adds them to get the total, total = A + B + C, then divides each part by that total and multiplies by 100: % of A = A ÷ total × 100, and the same for B and C. The three percentages always add up to 100%, apart from rounding in the second decimal. Parts can be decimals such as 1.5, and C may be left empty or 0 for a two-part mix. Negative parts are rejected, and so is a total of zero. The result is only as meaningful as the unit you use: the percentages describe shares of whatever each part counts, such as volume or weight. For a mix with more than three components, combine parts first.
Worked example
A mix is specified as 5:2:1. Total parts = 5 + 2 + 1 = 8. Part A = 5 ÷ 8 × 100 = 62.50%. Part B = 2 ÷ 8 × 100 = 25.00%. Part C = 1 ÷ 8 × 100 = 12.50%. Check: 62.5 + 25 + 12.5 = 100. So in a 1-litre batch measured by volume, you would pour 625 ml of A, 250 ml of B and 125 ml of C.
Common mistakes
- Dividing by the largest part instead of the sum. In 3:1, component A is 3 ÷ 4 = 75%, not 3 ÷ 1; the total is always every part added together.
- Mixing volume and weight. A ratio of 2:1 by volume is a different percentage by weight when the liquids have different densities, so keep every part in the same measure.
- Reading 3:1 as 3 parts plus 1 part of something else. The ratio already includes both parts, so the share of the second is 25% of the total blend, not 25% added on top.
- Entering a percentage as a part. If a recipe says 60:40, the answer is simply 60% and 40%; entering 60 and 40 as parts works only because they sum to 100.
- Using the tool for a four-part ratio. Only A, B and C are available, so merge two parts into one first or work from the total by hand.
About this calculator
Recipes, formulas and industrial mixes are often specified as a parts ratio — like 3:1 or 5:2:1 — rather than as percentages. Converting is just a matter of dividing each part by the sum of all parts: for a 3:1 ratio, the total is 4 parts, so the first component is 75% and the second is 25% of the finished blend.
This calculator does that division for you, turning a ratio of two parts (A:B) or three parts (A:B:C) into the percentage each component contributes to the whole. It’s a practical tool for painters and DIYers mixing epoxy, resin or paint tints, for home bartenders and chefs scaling cocktail or marinade ratios, and for anyone in concrete, fertilizer or chemical mixing who needs to translate a stated ratio into exact percentages before batching a larger quantity.

Parts only make sense in one shared unit, so a ratio of 50 parts fuel to 1 part oil gives 1.96 percent oil whether you count by volume or by weight, but you must not mix the two. The third part is optional and defaults to zero. For a three-component blend, what ratio are you working from?
