How it is calculated
The tool turns the invoice into cash today in two steps. The gross advance is advance = invoice × advance_rate / 100. The factoring fee is fee = invoice × fee_rate / 100, which is a percentage of the full invoice face value, not of the advance. The net advance, the cash you actually receive up front, is advance − fee. Both rates are percentages between 0 and 100; values outside that range return no result. The fee here is one flat percentage, so the tool does not add the extra daily or monthly charges that some factors apply while the invoice stays unpaid, and it does not show the reserve (invoice minus advance) that is released later.
Worked example
You factor a $25,000 invoice. The factor advances 85% and charges a fee of 3%. Gross advance: 25,000 × 85 / 100 = $21,250.00. Fee: 25,000 × 3 / 100 = $750.00. Net advance: 21,250 − 750 = $20,500.00 in cash today. The remaining 15%, or $3,750.00, stays with the factor as a reserve until your customer pays, and the exact release terms depend on your contract.
Common mistakes
- Applying the fee percentage to the advance instead of the whole invoice, which understates the fee.
- Entering the advance rate as a decimal (0.85) instead of a percentage (85).
- Treating the net advance as everything you will get: the reserve is paid later and may be reduced by further charges.
- Quoting a single monthly factor rate as the fee when the actual charge grows the longer the customer takes to pay; this tool uses one flat percentage.
- Comparing the 3% fee to a loan's annual rate: the fee covers a short period, so its annualised cost is much higher.

About this calculator
Invoice factoring lets a business sell an unpaid invoice to a factoring company for immediate cash instead of waiting 30, 60 or 90 days for the customer to pay. This calculator works out exactly what lands in the business's account: the gross advance (invoice amount × advance rate, typically 70–90%), minus the factoring fee (a percentage the factor charges for the service), leaving the net advance.
The remaining balance beyond the advance (the reserve) is typically released once the customer pays the invoice in full. Small businesses and B2B companies with long payment cycles use factoring to bridge cash-flow gaps without taking on traditional debt, and this calculator lets them see upfront exactly how much cash a given invoice will actually put in hand today.

Use the tool to compare offers rather than accept one headline rate. On a 25,000 invoice, an 85 percent advance with a 3 percent fee nets 20,500.00; raising the advance to 90 percent nets 21,750.00, while raising the fee to 5 percent nets 20,000.00. The advance rate and fee move cash by different amounts. Also ask about any daily charges and how the reserve is released. Which terms are you being quoted?
