Import Duty & Tariff Calculator
Enter the goods value, duty rate and other fees to get the duty and landed cost.
Result
How it is calculated
The tool applies one percentage rate to one value, then adds the extras. duty = value × rate ÷ 100 and total landed cost = value + duty + other fees. Value is the customs value of the goods in dollars, rate is the duty percentage you enter (for example 6.5 for 6.5%), and other fees are optional flat amounts such as brokerage or handling, counted as 0 if blank. No value may be negative. The tool does not look up rates from an HS code, so you must take the rate from the destination country's tariff schedule; rates and the customs value basis (for example whether freight and insurance are included) differ between countries. It also does not calculate VAT or GST. If you want them in the landed cost, work out the tax amount yourself and add it to other fees.
Worked example
Goods with a customs value of 2,400, a duty rate of 6.5% and 85 of brokerage and handling fees. Duty: 2,400 × 6.5 ÷ 100 = $156.00. Total landed cost: 2,400 + 156 + 85 = $2,641.00. So the goods cost 241 more than their invoice value once they clear customs, about 10% extra, before any VAT or GST.
Common mistakes
- Typing the rate as a fraction, such as 0.065. The field is a percent, so write 6.5; 0.065 gives a duty of only 1.56.
- Entering only the invoice price when the customs value in your country includes shipping and insurance. The duty will then be too low.
- Expecting VAT or GST in the total. The tool adds none; compute it separately and put it in other fees if you want it included.
- Entering a duty percentage in the other fees box, or a flat fee in the rate box. Rate is a percent, fees are a currency amount.
- Using one rate for a mixed shipment. Items with different HS codes can have different rates, so calculate each group separately.

About this calculator
Import duty is calculated by applying a tariff rate (set by the destination country's harmonized tariff schedule, based on the product's HS code) to the customs value of goods — typically the CIF value (cost, insurance, freight). Adding that duty plus other charges like brokerage fees, customs processing fees, and applicable taxes (VAT/GST) to the goods value gives the total landed cost — what the goods actually cost once they clear customs.
Importers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers run this calculation to quote accurate pricing before goods ship, and e-commerce sellers doing cross-border fulfillment use it to set retail prices that don't get eaten alive by duties they forgot to budget for.

The customs value is the base the rate applies to, and it can include freight and insurance in some countries but not in others, so confirm it before typing the rate. In the default case a 5 percent rate on 10,000 adds 500, and 200 of fees brings the total to 10,700. VAT or GST is not included, and in many places it is charged on value plus duty.
